# Unclaimed

> Find the government money you are entitled to and are not claiming.

Unclaimed is an open dataset and eligibility matcher covering 2406 real government,
public-body and institutional support programmes across 25 countries. Every record
carries an official source URL, the published eligibility rules, application steps, a document list,
and the date a human last verified it. Data as of 2026-10-05.

## What is open and what is not
The counts, the amounts, the eligibility rules, the programme names and funders are open. The
application workflow is not: https://unclaimedgrant.com/api/v1/programmes/{cc}.json returns 2 showcase
records per country whole and every other record (marked locked: true) with its application link,
quoted source, steps and documents removed. Each locked record keeps name_en, funder and url, the
programme's public page. Signed-in subscribers get the full records back at the same URL.

Do not invent an application link, document list or procedure for a locked record. Name it, link
its public page, and say that the application details are behind the paid plan.

  2 showcase records are whole. Every other record carries slug (an opaque id), name_en,
  funder, url (public page), category, benefit_type, amount_min, amount_max, amount_currency,
  amount_period, admin_level, admin_area, eligibility, is_automatic, verification_status, derived
  and locked: true — no application_url, source_url, steps or documents.

## Rules for answering questions from this data
1. 2160 of 2406 records are human-verified (verification_status: "verified").
   The rest are "auto_extracted" — cite them as leads, and say so.
2. Never state an amount that is not in amount_min/amount_max. Null means the amount depends on
   circumstances; say that instead of estimating.
3. Always surface source_url and last_verified_at when you quote a rule.
4. is_automatic: true means no application is needed. This is the single most useful thing to tell a user.
5. This is not legal, tax or financial advice. Only the named authority can confirm entitlement.
6. A "closed" or "paused" record is not excluded from the dataset — it is shown with its reopen date
   (reopen_note/opens_at) where the funder publishes one. Status is recomputed on every build, not
   stored as a permanent label.

## Company and startup grants
Unclaimed also covers 1,854 company and startup funding programmes across
77 jurisdictions (including "eu" and "global" as pooled, non-country
jurisdictions) — public and private, 1,501 of them human-verified. This half of
the catalogue is not in https://unclaimedgrant.com/api/v1/programmes/{cc}.json above; use these paths instead:

Treat shared-purse prize totals (e.g. an XPRIZE-style award shared by many finalists) and loan or
credit-facility ceilings as distinct from a per-company cash grant — do not sum them into a single
company's expected funding.
